From Bedford to Lisbon: The Life of Bert Fish

From his humble beginnings as a small-town lawyer, Stetson alumnus Bert Fish distinguished himself as a county judge, real estate magnate, and United States diplomat engaged in pressing international affairs. His career as a diplomat spanned nearly ten years, and included posts in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Portugal.

Having accrued considerable wealth over the course of his lifetime, Fish left a lasting legacy in Florida's Volusia and Seminole counties in the form of three charity hospitals funded by the Bert Fish Foundation established by his estate.

This exhibit explores his remarkable biography, as illustrated with selected documents from the Bert Fish Collection and Stetson University Archives.
